Day 014 – November 5, 1819

November 5, 1819 – Today, most of our company feel considerably recovered from seasickness, and have spent the day principally on deck, and desire to be grateful for undeserved mercies.
Lat. 37. 36. Lon. 43. 32. (Thaddeus Journal)

Hello, why does the journal from the Thaddeus stop on Day 014 but there are entries that continue with “no log entry”? Where can I find the entire collection of journals from this journey?

The Thaddeus Journal continues throughout their voyage, but there are some days where there are no entries. I found and used what journals I could find; I did review and include some entries from the Hunnewell journal; but was not able to transcribe and include all of the entries in time (these postings were done in association with the bicentennial of their voyage). Lucy Thurston’s entries were taken from portions of her book.

Here is a prior posting of the Thaddeus Journal: http://missionhouses.blogspot.com/2009/10/october-23-1820.html

A starting point for more information is the online digitized documents at Hawaiian Mission Houses – https://hmha.missionhouses.org/ (main page: missionhouses.org) and/or contact the Archives section at Hawaiian Mission Houses.
